“...from life See how the watercolour paint, when it's next to the wax pastel, is starting to blend the wax pastel. I hadn't planned for that to happen, but these things are good. So it's taking you out of your comfort zone because we're so used to drawing an outline and colouring it in. If you start from the middle and start to work out, the edge can take on a more organic shape 'cause looking at this pomegranate, we think it's round. It's not actually round, it's asymmetrical, and it's got lumps and bumps and flat sides too. So when we start to work from the middle out, you start to see it...”
