About the final project for: Figure Drawing: The Human Head

Figure Drawing: The Human Head

“Dear student, we have reached the end of the course. I hope that each of the lessons has given you the necessary tools to develop excellent anatomical drawings and above all that they are the basis for you to start from here to develop the drawing projects you have in mind. Now we are going to see the necessary steps to develop the final project. I want to reiterate that practice is fundamental, each of the tasks set out in the course is an exercise to be developed over and over again. What you will achieve with this is to internalize the dimensions, proportions and textures of the head to apply in future projects. We begin with a tour of different ways of drawing light and shadow on three-dimensional objects and then apply them to the part of the human anatomy that we are concentrating on in this course: the head.

Then we saw how to give textures to those shapes: bone, muscle and capillaries, which will be later the details of the composition.
Right away we focused on the skull and neck, drawing in different views and supported by a measurement grid we learned to draw all the parts proportionally.
With the clear measurements, the next step was to represent the skull in 3 dimensions, with the help of the lateral, frontal and 3/4 view, we rotated taking into account the proportions learned in the previous step.
When you have assimilated the process and you know how to draw the skull well in different views, you can locate the muscles which help the movement of the head and generate facial expressions. You can make a base and then use butter paper to experiment with different expressions.
Next, we draw variations of eyes, nose, mouth, ears and capillaries to have better clarity when drawing different types of faces or the same face from different points of view.
In the end, the idea is that with everything you've learned you can draw faces with different variations, in different positions and from various points of view, you can even make artistic compositions.
We can do all these exercises over and over again with the same materials and with new techniques that come to mind, we can see reference images to clarify doubts and challenge ourselves to represent new poses or expressions. Remember that you can make a composition with all the poses that you can think of or make a style booklet with different versions of the same face in the technique you want or in which you feel most confident. I hope this course has been helpful in your process of learning anatomy drawing and remember that it is a very long road in which we are learning all the time through constant practice of drawing and observation. I will be attentive in the forum to resolve doubts, questions and for us to dialogue on this subject that is my passion. Thank you very much for accompanying me through this course. Goodbye! ”

“Final project We've come to the end of the course. It's time to go over the steps you need to create your composition. First of all, I recommend practicing basic drawing techniques constantly. This will help you later on. To start your composition, work on the drawings of the skull and its anatomic proportions. It's important to do it as many times as you need to until you know it by heart. It's important to try different angles of the skull to practice the poses. When you've learned the process and know how to draw the skull from different viewpoints, add the muscles that move the head and...”
