“Drawing the Mermaid I've gone over the whole figure a little and all the parts that interested me with the marker. The soft outline I had has become quite a bit stronger. I'm going to go over a few lines again with the black pen. When I go over the lines with the pen and reinforce certain parts, I have to keep in mind that some parts are superimposed on others in the design. For example, this arm is in front of the torso and the arm that is further back. I need to step up the lines on this arm much more than those that are just behind, just so that these different planes do not overlap with...”
