Architectural Sketching with Watercolor and Ink

Absolutely loved this course and Alex's teaching style. I thought it was an excellent balance between technical and artistic techniques. I've never really explored watercolor, so his approach was easy to follow along with and will start me on the ever changing journey I'm sure! I've also never really been that interested in Architectural design, focused more on natural scenes, so I feel that this course has expanded my awareness into the beauty of the world around us.

Alex is an outstanding teacher. He has broken down his considerable craft into discrete, meaningful units. He is extremely articulate and knowledgeable. Moreover, he has an engaging presence. I enjoyed the instruction and I feel that this was an excellent course for a beginner watercolorist like me.

Alex's explanations and instructions are straightforward and easy to understand. He has broken down his process into manageable steps and answered student questions as they arise. He has also offered us a glimpse into his background and influences, a helpful part of understanding all that goes into his art. Nicely done!

I enjoyed listening to Alex teach his technique for creating an enchanting image of architecture. He breaks his process into easy to digest lessons. Even though I have sketched and painted for many years, Alex still gave me some valuable insight. My travel photos will forever change as I look for the corners of buildings with 2 vanishing points and interesting light effects. I have not yet accomplished all the elements in one painting, but I'm working on it with Alex's guidance. Thank-you!

INSPIRATIONAL!
I remember a quote from somewhere that said 'Paint the light' and that is exactly what Alex does. I've never dared to tackle buildings before because of perspectives and vanishing points etc., always thinking of it as being TOO difficult and complex. I see this subject completely differently now and have already got a couple of photos lined up to draw. Thank you SO MUCH Alex for showing us how to do it.

I absolutely recommend this course by Alex Hillkurtz. His sophisticated personal style, his wonderful sketches, filigreed use of pen and watercolor creates very special, unique look that you want to learn and master! What's also important, some elements of this technique turned out to be very useful in acrylic painting which I practice.

Good solid knowledge. Well articulated. Instructor moves fast but you get lots of content. Very passionate instructor - its a big subject and he covers a good view of it.
