Learn Visible Mending With This Free Course by The Endery

Ellen Saville teaches stylish techniques to repair and renew your favorite knitwear in this course, free for 72 hours
If you’re looking to live a more sustainable lifestyle in 2022, why not start with your wardrobe? Instead of replacing your well-loved knitted sweater or socks, the next time you find a hole, tear, or fray in your knits, learn the tricks of the trade to give it a new lease of life using colorful knitwear repair.
Ellen Saville (@ellen_saville) is the co-founder and creative director of The Endery, a brand that takes a zero-waste approach to creating handcrafted knitwear in Peru, using leftover yarn.
Starting December 22, for seventy-two hours only, Ellen’s course, Visible Mending: Colorful Knitwear Repair, will be free to the Domestika community!

In this course, she shows you how to mend your knitwear from scratch and develop your own colorful mending style to upcycle your favorite pieces—check out the trailer below and read on to find out how to access the course for free.
For Ellen, the benefits of developing your own mending style are multifaceted: not only is it a way of fighting consumerism and extending the life cycle of your wardrobe, it goes beyond that—it’s about deepening your relationship with your clothes.
Often, our attachment to knitted clothing is about more than the design or the color of the piece itself—it reminds us of who made it or the time and place where we found it. As such, the ability to mend and repair our knitwear helps preserve the memories found in their stitches.
What's in the course?
Through the course, Ellen covers the materials you’ll need to start building your mending kit, and teaches the differences between cotton, alpaca, and wool threads, before moving on to show you how to build a color palette that pushes back against fast fashion.
Next, she’ll show you how to prepare your knitwear depending on the type of repair; whether it’s a rip, fray, or hole. Then, you’ll learn mending techniques depending on your fabric and how to create your own distinctive style with inspiration both from Ellen and her favorite artists. Ready to get started?
