Free Download: Quick Tips on How to Draw Anything

Download these tips from Scriberia to overcome fear and draw anything from animals to abstract ideas
Hands, horses, the other eye: these are just some of the things many artists and designers dread drawing. But when you want to share a message with your audience, or create a convincing pitch for a project, you need to overcome this doubt so it doesn’t hold you back.
The truth, according to visual thinking agency Scriberia (@scriberia), is that a few basic building blocks can actually produce any illustration. Dan Porter and Chris Wilson founded Scriberia over a decade ago with the aim of creating images that "work hard" for their clients.
In their course, they outline super-effective methods for streamlining complex topics into illustrations, and here they share an exciting resource for illustrators: tips to help you draw anything.

How can you draw ‘anything’?
It sounds like a tall order. But Scriberia have spent years developing and refining their method, providing clients like Twitter, Adidas, the UN, the Red Cross, and more with illustrations that have an immediate impact. Whether it's a large infographic or a set of branded doodles, every piece that leaves their studio is packed with purpose.
As they explain, by ruthlessly organizing your key messages, and keeping structure and hierarchy in mind, you can create storytelling illustrations for all sorts of messages.
By limiting options and introducing rules, you can actually boost your creativity. You’re forced to think outside the box and reduce complex objects or figures into their most essential forms. In their course, they conduct in-depth experiments using an "alphabet" that they developed to ensure consistency, simplicity, and power in their messages.
This alphabet behaves like a set of building blocks, that can be assembled to create a drawing of just about any object. And by practicing this technique, you’ll begin to see the world differently, quickly perceiving the basic shapes that make up the world around you.
Whether you’re an experienced illustrator looking to challenge yourself with the basics, or you’re new to drawing and low in confidence—it can either tighten or open up your process. This alphabet and more can be found in the resource below.
