Decorate Your Hoop Earrings with Macramé in 3 Easy Steps
1. Start with a simple knot
Cut a cord measuring about 3 meters long, and fasten it on tightly with a simple knot. Start decorating your hoop with a spiral knot, which is a variation of the square knot.

Begin by taking the right hand cord over the earring, then pass the left hand cord underneath and pull it through the loop. Fasten tight.
Then repeat the process. Remember to always work from the same side.

2. Use your fingers to wind the series
The spiral knot gets its name from its twisted effect. Use your fingers to create the spiral around the hoop.

Continue tying spiral knots until your hoop is completely covered.

3. Tie a normal knot to finish
Once you have covered your hoop, tie a normal knot and fasten it tight.

If you’re using nylon cord, you can burn the ends with a lighter to stop the knots coming loose.

But if you prefer natural fibers, simply tie a tight knot and trim off the edges.
