Storyboarder: Free Digital Storyboarding Software

This tool allows anyone to create a digital storyboard in just a few seconds, as if it were on paper
The maxim that "less is more" becomes especially relevant when speaking about apps. Even more so when we discover that simplifying how they work doesn’t reduce their functionality. Storyboarder, a free and open source software for sketching stories digitally, complies perfectly with this premise, getting rid of unnecessary tools and embracing extreme simplicity to make creating a digital storyboard practically the same as doing it on paper.

This software has six drawing tools and allows you to add new sequences easily and quickly. In addition, important information can be added for each scene such as duration, dialogues, or annotations. Each scene can be easily edited in Photoshop, so that as many details, colors, and textures can be added as necessary. Storyboarder works with formats that are easily exported to editing programs such as Premiere, Final Cut or Avid. It also allows you to save storyboards in gif or pdf format. This means that they can be easily shared and edited when a project involves several people.

Even those who do not know how to draw can take advantage of the tools to make scenes, changing the characters, types of actions, and shots. It is also invaluable for those who prefer to start their storyboards on paper, since they can digitize them by just taking a photograph.

Storyboarder is a free, open source software, available for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux.
