Argentinian designer Lucas Mercado shares an urban art-inspired typeface with the Domestika community, completely free
Ideal for headlines and poster projects, with its high contrast, presence, and thick line weight, Chappa is a typeface designed by Argentinian Lucas Mercado (@lucasmercadodg), available for download at the bottom of this post. The designer from Cordoba, Argentina, conceived and created Chappa through a self-taught learning process, sourcing information from books, the internet, and his university friends. Mercado did not study typography and, although lacking the guidance of a teacher, he decided to create a typeface with parameters of his own.
He knew from the outset that he would create a display typeface with numbers, accents, and variations. He drew the inspiration for the attractive and striking shapes of Chappa from urban surroundings: graffiti written in huge letters on a wall was the spark that formed shapes, contrasts, and thick lines in Lucas's mind for the typeface he's sharing with the Domestika community.

Chappa includes two styles: sans serif and italicized. As mentioned, the font includes numbers, different types of accents, and since it originated in Latin America, even the quirky letter Ñ.
Its features make it suitable for large formats: billboards, headlines, banners, magazines, posters, etc.
Its license is free for personal or commercial use. Let your imagination run wild and allow your projects to take shape. Do remember to use the hashtag #chappafont to share your projects with its creator.
