Copyright in Artistic Creation: A Guide for Designers
Today I want to share with you something that has taken me some time to learn and that I consider essential in the world of design and artistic creation: respect for copyright.
Since I started to delve into the fascinating world of digital collage, I realized the importance of understanding and respecting the rights of creators. Every image, every piece of music, every illustration has an origin, a creative mind behind it, and it is crucial to be aware of that.
When I first ventured into the art of collage, I realized that it was not only about pasting images in an aesthetic way, but also about understanding and respecting the rights of the artists behind those pieces. It was then that I began to educate myself on the complicated but essential world of copyright.
Why is it so crucial? Because every work has a soul, and every creator deserves to be recognized and, when necessary, remunerated for their work. Imagine your work being used in a massive advertising campaign - it's a dream! But it is also essential that it is done ethically and legally.
The learning process wasn't easy, but I set out to understand the ins and outs of copyright, fair use and creative licensing. I wanted to make sure my collages were not only visually stunning, but also ethical and respectful of artists' rights. Also, I've always felt a very strong commitment to my clients, so I have to offer them pieces that don't have any repercussions for their campaigns or products.
For that reason, I want to share a valuable resource with you. I've created a document that details the chain of rights, providing detailed information on the types of rights you need to be aware of to make sure you comply with everything. You can download it for free and have it as your personal guide on this creative journey!

This document will not only help you understand copyright, but will also guide you on how to use images ethically, respecting proper attribution, reproduction rights and avoiding any legal issues. It is also very important that you know the legal framework of the country where you are developing in case there is something additional you should take into account.
In addition to this free resource, I would like to invite you to join my course on Domestika: "Graphic Design: Composition of Commercial Images". In this course, we will explore from the background of digital collage to the creation of compositions that highlight the identity of a brand.
