Makeup Tutorial: how to do skin makeup in a photo shoot

Discover these tips to work in favor of light in a photoshoot, with Natalia Belda
Makeup is as important to achieve a great photo shoot as are the model, a good photographer, a set and wardrobe that match the theme. And there is an element of the face that can determine the success or failure of our photoshoot: the skin.
Shiny, dirty-looking or overly nuanced skin can ruin our photographs. Natalia Belda (@natalia_natalita), professional makeup artist and author of the book on this discipline 'MaquillaT', she knows it very well and in this tutorial she gives us some tricks to work in favor of light in our photo sessions. Tips for applying makeup to your skin in photo shoots
Natalia Belda has the model with a soft light, which gives a very natural appearance to the skin. To achieve a more satin effect that highlights the skin of the subject to be portrayed, the makeup artist recommends enhancing the shine with highlighter. Natalia uses two highlighters, one powder and the other liquid.
The Illuminator
The highlighter is applied to different points on our face: the upper area of the cheek, under the eyebrow, on the tear duct, on the nose in moderation and on the cupid's bow of our lips. Natalia recommends spreading it with your fingers and avoiding going towards the dark circles, since we could enhance that part. In addition, it is essential to work it carefully so as not to take away the rest of the makeup. Liquid highlighter is recommended for older skin or to achieve a more enhanced glow, but you can also use powder highlighter.

The color of the makeup depends on the light
We have to keep in mind that the color of our makeup can also change with the light. We will use a shadow to enhance the color of our eyelids. That will generate a little more intensity. Add a touch of gloss for a juicier effect. This way the textures will be better appreciated.

Tin your makeup to avoid harsh shadows
Harder shadows will highlight the shine more and, although we want juicy makeup, it may be necessary to nuance it. To do this, we will use compact powder in different areas of the face, such as the forehead and between the eyebrows, the area under the eyes, the corners of the nose, the lip and the chin. It is important to tone these areas since treacherous shine can ruin the entire look.
