Antoni Gaudí was born in Reus in 1852, into a family of artisan coppersmiths. His fragile health led him to spend much time observing nature, a practice that would mark all his work. Natural forms, proportions and rhythms would become his main source of inspiration. He studied architecture in Barcelona and from the beginning developed his own style. Although he mastered classical technique, his gaze sought to unite art, geometry and spirituality, anticipating Catalan modernism.
