Andrea Huls Pareja

My career began as a 17-year-old photojournalist intern at Nicaragua's national newspaper, La Prensa. My passion for storytelling kept growing as a journalism and media production college student. For four years, I worked at the college newspaper, The Gargoyle, and was an intern for The Kerryman, in Ireland, before graduating.

My Master's in Gender Studies at Utrecht University enhanced my research and critical thinking skills. During my time in The Netherlands, I strengthened my writing along with my photography. My need to tell stories brought me to Barcelona in 2013, to study documentary filmmaking. While finalising my Masters, I finally entered the world of tech when Booking.com hired me as a content writer.

Working in tech has armed me with a whole new set of skills, and I have discovered with newfound excitement how essential stories are to connect with users online.

I currently lead a team of talented writers, and our goal is to challenge what we do every day to serve the user as best as we can. In my role, I research competitors and analyze Google's latest trends and algorithm changes. I create content that will answer questions or improve the experience of my user.

One of my top skills is my ability to empathize with others, colleagues, and users alike, which allows me to connect and find solutions to any problem.

I would love to find a role that continues to challenge my creative and inquisitive mind and puts my new UX researcher skills to good use.

My main goal is to develop technology that makes people's lives better.
