I’m Yasmine Bahiense, a professionally trained chef and a textile artist by one of those unexpected turns that somehow ends up making more sense than the original plan.
For many years, cooking was my primary language: material, texture, time, technique, and transformation. During the pandemic, I discovered textile art as a new way of exploring those same elements — this time through fibers.
I traded pans for threads, while keeping the same rigor, curiosity, and attention to detail.
Today, I create wall tapestries and decorative textile pieces that explore form, volume, texture, and natural materials. I’m drawn to the handmade gesture, the beauty of imperfection, and the quiet presence of objects that do not need to say much in order to be noticed.
