Vivienne Sharman-Lewis

As a professional illustrator, Vivienne illustrated for LadyBird Books, such as Journey to the Centre of the Earth by Jules Verne, recently produced as an audiobook, and via her London Agent, for Oxford University Press and Mcdonald’s Publications, as well as commercial work for advertising agencies. Vivienne has also worked as the Visualiser at Selfridges Design Studio in London, creating visuals for their world famous Christmas window displays, that were reproduced in the TV Times and Daily Mirror, exhibitions and interior displays. She later produced illustrations for Children’s Television in Wales. Now, after many years creating high profile events and writing promotional articles on behalf of her PR clients, and her events, for newspapers and magazines, she is currently writing and illustrating her own series of children’s adventure books, “The Eight Pearls of Wisdom”, an adventurous journey of discovery and self realisation, and set at different periods in the swash-buckling history of the sub-tropical island of Tenerife in the Canary Isles, where she lived, encompassing historical fact, myths, legends and even science fiction, in a sometimes light-hearted, sometimes dark, but always thought-provoking manner, that addresses many of the challenges we face today. Subjects rich for an illustrator indeed!

Vivienne is also currently writing and illustrating a series of 8 swash buckling children adventure stories, called “The Eight Pearls of Wisdom”, that takes her characters from the very formation of the islands, three million years ago, and the arrival of their earliest inhabitants, around 680 - 1020 A.D, to Ulysses stumbling onto the shores of Tenerife, during his wanderings, after the fall of Troy, to the times of Christopher Columbus, and the Spanish Conquest in 1495, to Sir Francis Drake (1540 - 1596), and the many pirate activities that plagued the island for over a hundreds years, and later, Lord Nelson’s attempted invasions, and finally fast forward to the many Sci Fi activities that still exist there today. Subjects rich for an illustrator indeed!
