Tom Yates

I'm T.E. Yates (call me Tom - I use my initials for my work). Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, artist/illustrator and award-nominated animator. Occasional web designer.

Largely self-taught across my disciplines, I felt like I missed out on some key foundational principles. I'm also looking to put the fun back into creativity - as well as to learn with an open mind, become more disciplined and to continue to develop and grow my creative practice. I'll be looking to go back to basics - to learn some key principles behind artwork and animation in particular - as well as to develop some more advanced techniques.

In terms of achievements, with music, I appeared at Glastonbury Festival for the first time in 2022 and I've had radio plays across the world, including both national and local/regional BBC radio here in the UK (6 Music, BBC Radio Manchester, BBC Radio Bristol, BBC Introducing).

My first completed animated work, "Evil Cat", was shortlisted for Best Music Video at the 2016 British Animation Awards and has since been selected by the Poe Film Festival in Richmond, VA, USA. Animated works produced for other artists have featured on MTV, Kerrang! and Classic Rock Magazine. My own animated projects have been selected for screening at several animation festivals in both the UK and USA.
