The Story of Syrenka
I’m Tamara Fernandez, a native Floridian artist, muralist, and international art educator with over 20 years of experience teaching visual arts internationally in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

My childhood was filled with outdoor adventures and animals, which continue to inspire my work—plants and creatures, both tame and wild, often carry symbolic meaning in my imaginative illustrations. Through my studio, Studio Syrenka, I create mixed-media artworks, drawings, paintings, and run workshops that engage communities in the process of collaborative murals. The flora and fauna of Florida, Ecuador, Venezuela, Poland, Ghana, and Vietnam continue to shape my imagery, and my style evolves with each new place I call home.

I’ve taught beginner to advanced courses in drawing, painting, mixed media, printmaking, and large-scale collaborative art, and I’m passionate about helping students build confidence and creative independence through hands-on exploration.
