I am a french self taught illustrator.
Here is some of my work: istolar.art
AlthoughI have been drawing for pleasure since childhood, I never properly studied art, drawing or illustration. Should I regret it? Maybe. Let's say not most academic ones. It has both its good and bad sides I guess.
Prior to drawing: I was a social worker in child protection for 15 years. I worked both in Lyon (France) and East London. I also have a master's degree in Anthropology ( Lyon II university). At some point, I found myself abroad: new culture, new langage. I then decided to go for something I always secretly wanted to do: draw more officially. I am now living in France. I carry on drawing.
Paper / Photoshop & Procreate
I enjoy creating a contrast between the textured work and sharp clean cut. here i used mix technique (hand work and photoshop). I usually scan my drawing/sketch (or more complete) on which I cut and apply digital textures of all sorts, a kind of digital collage technique. I like to keep the naive flat aspect which in my opinion, creates a poetic, childish atmosphere. Recently I started working with procreate. I just love it so much: either for charcoal lines or for the painting experience that I was so pleased to recover using the procreate brushes. I try not to forget the papers though.
