I am a retired primary school teacher, living in Surrey England with my husband. Our children are now grown up. Our son lives in Bristol with his wife and daughter while our daughter is in Northern Ireland with her husband. They too have a baby girl.
As a teacher I really enjoyed art and technology lessons with the children covering with them topics from tie and dye to puppet making, watercolour work to printing and everything in between.
On retirement I wanted to focus on exploring watercolour painting in more depth. However, with very little skill in drawing I decided that I needed some instruction in this first. More practice is still needed! Since then I have been to various watercolour classes but feel I have always missed out on being taught the basics of this medium. For that reason I am very excited that this course works on tone and colour mixing, which I have never really got to grips with. I am also keen to learn more about composition. I am hoping that this course will help me ‘grow in confidence’ as I am always too quick to look at the weaknesses in my work, rather than the strengths. I can’t wait to get started!
Other than painting I love many different crafts most specifically, patchwork and quilting, dressmaking, knitting and embroidery.
