Hi, my name is Wojciech Roskosz - artysta z odzysku
As a Visual Artist, I mainly create assemblages from waste.
It's not a matter of fashion.
I'm not an eco-terrorist.
I don't want to participate in the overproduction of art.
It's an evolutionary adaptation, my way of making the most of my time at work.
Camera installation, etc., in the monotony of activities, I look for interesting shapes, colors and textures. I'm looking for "spontaneous art". Each work, in addition to its aesthetic value, must have a context, meaning, reason to be created. I'm looking for art-potential in waste.
In other, longer words ;o)
I am an artist from the industry, I am looking for art in factories, in everyday life, spontaneous art. This slightly opportunistic approach to creation makes everyday work more bearable.
On a daily basis, I work physically for large factories, which are seemingly devoid of artistry. In the entities I service, among the highly advanced equipment and computers, people produce more hi-teks, which they will later buy in "not for idiots" (an advertising slogan used in Poland for a large, well-known chain of electronics stores). In the daily monotony of repetitive activities, I look for interesting shapes, forms and compositions. Beauty is hidden in surprising places and moments.
The common denominator of the above paragraphs, although you can't see it, is the cable. The wires entangle us in thickening cobwebs. These twisted pairs, wires are symbols of development, without it there is no data transmission, no electricity. Cables, like insects, come in countless varieties and species, some we see every day, we can recognize them, others invisible entwine the space with a network of connections. Many interesting specimens writhe hiding in shafts. Like ants, they mark the way, they create cable routes. To see them, it is enough to pick up a stone, a decayed root, open the server room and go to the roof. The series of works - Installer's Love - is the result of experiences and observations in the current professional work. It is a reaction, an attempt to tame the world around me that is not fully understood and accepted. Like it or not, I am part of it. Realizing that I am unable to significantly influence him as a whole. I try not to fight it, but to make it more tolerable, to notice interesting compositions. I make friends, I tame the enemy. I find beauty in microcosms of packaging, waste, rubbish.
