My project in Artistic Watercolor Sketching: Dare to Express Your Ideas course

I LOVED this course! I have done all the exercises, and each one added something to my “toolbox”. Here you see first my final project, and then following that the steps I took.
1) First I did thumbnails of how to treat the amazing Church in St. Petersburg with its colorful domes. I really liked the one that abstracted towards a lot of color.
2) I did some thumbnails that showed my one visitor. Also I tested a few ways of painting the golden domes on that same page of thumbnails.
3) I did one color thumbnail of my chosen layout.
4) Finally, I created the final painting in my sketchbook. I drew it in pencil then ink, and then painted it in using both wash and glaze techniques. When the painting was completely dry, I added the words with a dip pen. (Even though the page was dry, the ink spread into the paint. Oh well. Still learning!)
