Overall, I have to say I am perhaps just a big old 'nerd' from the 80's... I grew up through the 70's, eventually the 80's where I had an immense shift in my outlook on life through the exciting advent of the home computer. It peaked my interest, it challenged me to problem solve and its where I wanted to take my future.

While I started out early working IT and programming jobs, a big change occured around the end of the 80's when I started to get interested in 3D graphics. It was in the early 90's that I started to work both as a freelancer and in a studio as a 3D artist (prior to this, 3D was my most passionate 'hobby' (although a rather expensive one)).

After my studio contract finished in the early 2000's, I got given an opportunity to share my experience as a tutor and have somehow spent the last two decades of my life teaching 3D graphics and VFX here in New Zealand.

My biggest hobby (other than spending money on way too many toys) is collecting 1980's vintage and retro computers and games. I also love designing and programming games, and have been developing a lot of classic games for one of my 8-bit home computers for fun and enjoyment (and also to share as an educational resource for others).

Education and life-long learning is a philosophy of mine, and when I saw a course on Domestika that would allow me to learn skills for another side hobby (doodling/drawing/comics), I couldn't resist any longer and signed up. I look forward to completing it, and I am sure as I go there will be more that will inspire me to keep learning.
