I have always been a maker of one kind or another - sewing, knitting, jewelry and metal smithing. I love to create with my hands and I love to solve problems. At the same time, I never saw making as anything more than a fun hobby. I went to university and graduated from law school with the intention of working in the areas of environmental law and social justice. Shortly after graduating from law school my first child was born and I made the decision to pause my law career and to care full time for my children and family.

About four years ago I discovered the practice of yoga. Through my yoga practice I discovered that in many ways I had allowed my life to follow a path set more by the expectations and evaluations of others than my my own passions and desires. I noticed that in many ways I had played it safe, avoiding failure rather than seeking out success. Practicing, and eventually teaching yoga, has given me access to creativity in my physical movement and with my voice.

For the most part, I have stayed away from drawing and illustration because I believed that I could never be good at it. I let the fear of failure to keep me from trying and to keep me from practicing the actual skills. During the past year - the 10+ months of lockdown due to the COVID pandemic - I have made the commitment to myself to pick-up this work and to practice drawing (almost) every day without any expectations regarding the ultimate outcome.

I am grateful to have this platform of classes, teachers, and the Domestika community to learn from and share with.
