Hi,
I like to draw landscape, trees and woods, ordinary natural world near me using watercolour, ink and brush pens. Currently trying using gouache, water-soluble crayon and pencils.
I never knew that there are profession called illustrator until having kids through the exposure to lot of children books. No one told me about this profession when I was kid.
I was then took architecture study in university, master abroad, and also finished my phd in architecture degree and then having my children. In architecture field, I was used to travelling for work and study. My research was about wooden traditional architecture which bring me further on shifting my point of view to drawing more trees as the crucial subject about environment nowadays. And I found that represent them using illustration to the public are very fun way.
Changing geographic, from single 'nomads' to be mother, nurture family and kids, push me to look at different field. Realising that people were always more appreciating my drawing, i start to giving a chance on honing this skill more and look where i can put it. If i see other artist' works, books, images, illustrations, style, i knew I could not overtake what they have achieved and produced. This make me to come back again to my self, about what i am going to do or saying through my art or illustration. Online courses like in Domestika helped broaden my horizon.
Since put my works in the physical medium are much more expensive (such as shipping products, pay for space to exhibit my arts), i see digital medium become second strategy. so I look for opportunity weather my works can contribute and weather it can be source of income for me, since mobility life style of an architect no more realistic for me. Term about copyright, licensing, royalty are completely new for me. We didn't learn about them in architecture. But it is exciting to know if this possibility exist. Domestika courses have contributed confidence, motivation and insight to exercising them into and by starting my business. Many thanks!
