BIOGRAPHY
While the world has been brought to its knees by the COVID-19 pandemic, SAMA Award Winning, Multiple Multi-Platinum selling singer & songwriter, record label owning music executive, Holly Rey has stayed at the top of her game. In 2019 she sat amongst the Top 10 Recording Artists and the top performing record labels and she has continued to maintain her success throughout the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021.
Current Projects
Holly Rey used the ban on live performances and events as an opportunity to put her BA Honours Cum Laude in Media and Contemporary Culture Studies to good use. She created two original online lifestyle series and was awarded funding by the National Film and Television Foundation to create a full production of the series "Baking With The Rey's". She also managed to record and release her second EP "Unconditional" which is being described by many as her greatest body of work to date. She has just completed work on a very personal project, an alternative acoustic version of the EP which will release in the first quarter of 2022. She has also started work on a full length album which she expects to release before the end of 2022.
Managing Director of Universal Publishing Group, Ryan Hill, has this to say of Holly, "We had been watching Holly’ s career development with keen interest, being impressed by her talent from a very young age, but cautious in terms of her potential to sustain a career in a volatile industry. In a small window of time however, with multiplatinum singles under her belt and the accolade of being the first woman to win Record of the Year at the South African Music Awards , she has completely surpassed expectations and continues to prove that she
is a rare talent, worth every bit of our investment so far . A significant part of her grit as an artist and a positive indication of sustainability, is her high level of professionalism in dealing with all matter s relating to her business as an entertainment brand. Her output on a creative level is exceptional and she is highly regarded within the local industry, as well as by her significant and devoted public audience."
