Seyi Fashina

Seyi “GFash” Fashina is a talented and creative documentary
photographer and photojournalist based in Abuja, Nigeria. He’s found
documentary photography as a medium of reaching people and telling
stories that capture his heart: real-life stories pertaining to people’s
interactions with themselves and with every aspect of their environment.
He has keen interests in culture, health and human use and interactions
with the environment, and has documented a number of commissioned
and personal assignments. He hopes to travel the world with his camera
to document stories rarely told: forgotten tribes and their lives and
culture, etc.

Seyi has done several personal projects and also has collaborated with
other photojournalists on projects. He also has worked with several
organizations and NGOs including Space for Women Foundation,
National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Ovation International,
AFREXIM Bank, Stanbic IBTC, Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative (MANI),
Info Strategy Technology (IST), and Garden Social Ventures Technology
(GSV) to communicate their objective and promote their causes.

Seyi has a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Obafemi Awolowo
University, Ile-Ife, Osun state, Nigeria. He has attended a number of
photography workshops including the Abuja Photo Festival, Unabashed,
and Wakasnap; and also participated in a number of photo walks.

In 2021, the highly gifted documentary photographer, Seyi, was
recognized for one of his works titled, Too Overrated, (which profiled the
extraordinary life of a one-hand man who defied all odds to carve a
beautiful life for himself as a creative) and was exhibited at the Embassy
of Sweden. Also, his work, I Got You (which talked about the role of good
friendships and support systems) will be exhibited at this year's, 2023
Abuja photo festival.

Through his art, he hopes to inspire change and make a
difference in the world.
