This was the first course I tried with Domestika, and it’s been very useful in learning to appreciate the real origins of sashiko as practiced by artisans in Japan even today. I’m excited to use sashiko as a daily/ordinary practice that can bring so many benefits — mindful slow stitching, prolonging the life of my clothes, and making my clothes more valuable/special.

I have read a few books on Sashiko to for understanding and how to get started. But this course has given me a better idea how to actually do Sashiko. The instructor is clear with explanations and it is very obvious that he is passionate about the craft. I hope that Sashiko will be one of my favourite activities to spend time on. Look forward to making some garments applying Sashiko.

A great introduction to sashiko. This course is great for a beginner to gain confidence in approaching sashiko in a a clear, easy and culturally conscious manner.

Corso molto interessante. Il maestro è davvero bravo e coinvolgente, le spiegazioni sono chiare ed esaustive. Mi piacerebbe poter approfondire sia la tecnica sia la "filosofia" del sashiko, spero ci sarà un ulteriore corso.

Great course if you are just starting. I love the fact that the instructor speaks genuinely about his life and how it paved the way for how he relates to Sashiko. He emphasizes the importance of finding your own rhythm as opposed to trying to make every stich perfect. Sometimes it is easy to obsess about perfection, so much that you do not enjoy the process. I thoroughly enjoyed this class!

El curso es excelente. El profesor no dicta el curso por lo que puede ganar monetariamente, sino como forma de transmitir su cultura y mostrar un profundo respeto hacia la historia de su pueblo...maravilloso...

I enjoyed watching this course. The presentation was very encouraging and the instructor taught in a relaxed, chatty manner. Having the subtitles on was great help in learning the Japanese technical terms. I am comfortable that using the right tools and materials I will be able to practise this skill with confidence. Should I be stuck using alternatives, I now understand why some basic sewing modifications will be necessary.

Enjoying this course especially the background of Susiko and Boro...very interesting.
