Let it be inspired by something from your past. It doesn't have to be a big event―a small memory that stuck with you until today is more than enough to get going.

Choosing Your Characters Before you actually start writing, it helps to be on the lookout for ideas. Make notes of the things you experience in your daily life―you never know when you might use them. Don't forget to choose a main character with whom you can identify. Planning Your Story Plan your story by writing out the key beats of the beginning, the middle, and the end. I showed you how to do this in the second unit. Remember to write for today's children, not for the child you once were. You can also create a mood board and listen to music for additional inspiration. Writing Your Draft Then just make a start and don't look back once you've begun. Writing can make you doubt yourself during the process, especially when you get into the habit of constantly re-reading what you've already written. Save this for later, when your first draft is done! Editing Your Story Once you've finished, take a break before you start editing. This process is about making your writing more vibrant and engaging. Avoid repetitions. If during the process of creating your final project you ever feel stuck, insecure, or lost, don't hesitate to ask your questions to the community. It's a normal part of writing―or any other creative discipline, for that matter. Once you're happy with your story, I'd love to see it (or part of it) in the forum. Feel free to kindly and respectfully comment on the stories of your fellow classmates as well. You will see how fulfilling and encouraging other people's feedback can be!
