Anne Marie Kleis

I was born in Chicago, raised in Puerto Rico by a Dutch - German father and a Puerto Rican mother. As a youngster I played tennis and was the number 1 junior of Puerto Rico representing the island in JITIC 1977, Junior Olympics 1978 and in the Pan-American Games 1979 . I studied at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated from Rollins College with a BA in Foreign languages -French, Italian and Spanish. I later studied at FIT in NYC , graduating with a MS in Fashion Marketing. While living in NYC for 6 years, I worked with Saks Fifth Ave, Ann Taylor, Daniel Hechter and Alain Manoukian. Returning to Puerto Rico in 1991 to work with Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store In Old San Juan and later opening my business of party planning and luxury party rentals in 1995. In 2015, AMK Events celebrated its 20 th Anniversary of business in Paris, France at the George V Four Season’s Hotel. In 2018, after Hurricane Maria devasted Puerto Rico, I founded AMK Caribbean Consulting LLC which represents a couple of luxury outdoor furniture lines: Dedon, Gloster and OASIQ for hotels, restaurants and individual interior designers. Currently I am managing both the event-wedding planning and the outdoor furniture businesses for the Caribbean. This is why I am very interested in learning about interior and exterior design since they are intrinsic for my businesses.
