Who knew pretzel sticks could be sharpened, just like pencils?! This was such a happy discovery for me. I realized that pretzel sticks are somewhat similar to wooden pencils in that they have an outer layer that's brownish in color and an interior that is lighter in color once sharpened or bit into. So I just had to figure out how to achieve a sharp point on a pretzel stick.
At first I tried whittling the pretzels down with a sharp knife, and that worked, but it was a very tedious process, and I broke lots of pretzels along the way. A couple days after creating my first prototype cupcake, it magically came to me that I could try the pretzels in a pencil sharpener to make the process much easier and more fun. I can't believe it actually worked perfectly!
