I'm in my 30s, a Vietnamese mother of 2, a boy and a little girl. I'm currently working as an English teacher. That is what I've been trained for but I sometimes find it a bit stressful and inhibited at work, especially in research stuff, documentation, and paperwork. That's why I usually opt for crafting, cooking, and art as pastime activities. I'm not used to drawings and have not drawn anything in the past 5 years and all that I used to draw in my classes were simple stick figures, but not much. I think art is both a therapy and a means of communication where you can freely speak up your voice, relax your mind and nurture your imagination. That's why I come to this course, to be more confident in expressing myself, calm my temper, and hopefully shed light on what is confusing my life. I love books, especially children's books, and not only recently when I run an online bookstore I have had more opportunities to approach hundreds of beautifully illustrated children's books, from Usborne, Scholastic, and many other famous publishers. I just find myself so much absorbed and drawn by all those illustrations and dream of someday I could draw like that. I am not good at drawing and now starting everything from scratch, knowing nothing about ratios, techniques, or any drawing fundamentals, but just give it a try.
