Joanna Kienmeyer

Hi, my name is Jo - I’m a special needs teacher living in the heart of Austria.
When I’m not teaching, I’m crocheting. My greatest passion is amigurumi - I love taking a crochet hook in one hand and some yarn in the other and creating cute characters, whether they are dolls or animals.

My love for crochet and amigurumi began when my children were born. When I started crocheting, I made appliqués to individualise their hats and clothing until I discovered an amigurumi pattern - a little ballerina bunny - I just had to give it a try and made one for my daughter - from that moment on, I knew I had found my creative passion and I haven’t stopped crocheting dolls and animals since. I still find it so exciting when each creation gets its own little personality.

I also enjoy discovering new crafts, whether it be embroidery, felt, knitting or (my newest interest) macrame. I am always happy when I am able to be creative using my hands and fibres.
