Talia Cotton

Talia Cotton is a designer, coder, and educator and is a leading specialist in the intersection of branding and technology. Her practice revolves around moving the design industry forward by the use of algorithms and programmatic practices as an accessible design tool. She leads the design and development of data-driven and algorithmic brand identities at Pentagram with Michael Bierut and Giorgia Lupi, and teaches Advanced Interaction at Parsons School of Design.

In 2019 she founded “Intro to Coding for Designers,” a workshop catered to boost the advancement of the study of code-as-design for the design community. Previously she led her own independent design & coding practice, and led digital brand design and development at Champions Design. She was a main stage speaker at the Google Visual Design Summit, and has spoken at OFFF Tel Aviv, Future London Academy, AIGA and others about how coding can influence design. Her work has been featured in Fast Company and It’s Nice that, and awarded by D&AD and the TDC.

She is committed to educating the design community on what’s possible with code, helping them understand how it can be applied successfully with wit and reason, and inspiring designers to pursue the study of code fearlessly and passionately.
