Laura Micalizzi

Since I was a child I have been creative. I remember I loved to personalize things (my notebooks, my diaries, my
room). The turning point was when I was 8. My father bought me a computer and I discovered my passion for
graphics! This is when I understood that the thing that I love to do the best is to use my creativity by using different digital programs). I started to download lots of them and use many different ones (Photoscape, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and I am gratuated at Academy of fine Arts of Catania to make my dream come true, i'm a graphic designer!

My own style takes inspiration from Optical Art and in particular from the designer, Franco Grignani, who is the
most famous exponent of the movement.

I love graphic design because it is connected with many different areas and offers you the opportunity to deepen
your knowledge in all of them. My two most important works are: a corporate image for High Technology
Systems, which provides a range of electronic production services (for this work I have done a restyling of the
brand,therefore, preserving its original shape and colours) and a brandmark for Parkour Messina, inspired by
Waby-Saby, which is a Japanese philosophy of accepting your imperfections and making the most of life.
Graphic design obligates you to understand and represent the client’s passions, in the mean time you have to
filter their passions with graphic design rules to achieve a final work that is a perfect combination of creativity and
simplicity.
