I've been involved in one art-related field or another since 1976, starting out in a sign shop that also did graphic design (long before personal computers of course). In 1987, after freelancing as a graphic designer, I went back to school full-time and earned a BFA Illustration from the Academy of Art University (then College) in 1989. In 1997, after two years of private study with a local artist, I started to paint in oil full time, specializing in animals and the natural world. My work has been accepted into many juried exhibitions since 2001. A year or so ago I decided to also return to my first professional art media, pen and ink, particularly dip pens and have accumulated a large collection of vintage nibs suitable for drawing, lettering and sketching. I got my first PC in the mid-1990s and started using CorelDraw for graphic design. Fast forward and I now use an iMac and iPad for art creation and a variety of art-related tasks. But there's still no substitute for the feel of pen and ink on paper or a brush on canvas.
