I think I went a little overboard on the rocks in the foreground, and also I am seeing that my river is too straight! It's not supposed to be a canal :). but I'm pleased overall with how this turned out. I tried to use all the different techniques we were taught, including spattering, scraping, wet in wet and damp in damp. I learned a lot, especially about color mixing and usage, and the importance of a full range of values. Thanks Richard! This was a remarkable class and I love the way you use color! I would love your feedback on improvements I could make.

Teacher PlusHi Sheryl - yes, a good painting of the bridge. I understand what you're saying about the over-delineation of the rocks. Maybe suggestion rather than painting each individual rock would be good. Also, the line of the rocks seems to continuous. Maybe break it up a little - as in the photo. I like your grasses and the general textures you've created. It's a good painting but do yourself a favour and draw/paint sections that will look good. By that i mean, really looking at your drawing and make changes where you're not happy with the lines or the flow of something. You're the artist, so you can paint in a way that please you. You don't need to be faithful to the image.
