I thoroughly enjoyed the course and completing the project. For me it was important to follow Richard's videos closely by replicating his painting so that I got a full understanding of how he uses the paints, the tonality and most important the textures. I used a different paper to Richard but was able to match a good number of the paints he uses.
My first tricky task was the masking fluid and I feel I could have improved here. I'm going to continue to use these techniques as it will take me to new grounds and away from the tighter style I've been working in.
To try the techniques out I went to a local river called the Tillingbourne and painted plein air. The second picture shows the result. The weather was blustry and I didn't have the strong sunlight I had hoped for. So my colours became muted and the shadows not so deep. I knew I would forget a lot of the course when out painting but I needed to make a start. If I keep going and look back at the course from time to time I'm hoping the process will become more natural.

Teacher PlusExcellent attempt. Good textures in the foliage areas. Yes, keep at it. A second-nature feel will come the more you work at it.
