My project for course: Creating Garments Using Crochet

I already knew how to crochet a bit but I really like this style of crocheting taught in this course that mimics knitting. I feel that the end fabric created drapes better and is not as stiff as traditionally crocheted garments with the same thick yarns.

I had initially planned on created a cardigan with long puffy sleeves but then I realized that it would be impractical where I live - I would not be able to wear that anywhere in this weather. Next I decided to opt for half sleeves but even that seemed too warm for the climate here. In the end I settled for a sleeveless top/vest and I am very happy with the results.

I wanted to use the colour block technique that Alicia used on the sleeves so I did the colour-blocking for my back panel. I made my collar much wider than the pattern suggested as I don't like claustrophobic collars. I especially liked the technique of folding over the collar and using invisible seams to attach it to the body of the piece of clothing. Not only does the collar look stiffer and better this way, but it also hides messy seams. I want to create more garments using the techniques learnt in this course.
