The purpose of taking the Blackwork Tattoo Design course was to try a different illustration style, and to learn to simplify shapes and values. As I had no specific interest in learning to use fine-point markers, I used Photoshop from start to finish, including tools such as symmetry and the custom brush for the shading.

this is great, i really like this approach! with the thistle i'd probably add a solid black for the stem, might make it more punchy, but this is great
