Born and raised in the Flemish countryside, my vivid imagination was stimulated by growing up in a big house with lots of nooks and crannies, and the forest and fields surrounding it. I was introduced to the famous Belgian comics strips through my uncle's collection, and became a voracious reader of novels stimulated by my mother's book subscription. A child of the eighties and its particular style of cartoons, tv shows and movies, I've always loved stories, making plenty up in my own head while playing lego, crafting fabulous "inventions" and going on outdoor adventures with my younger brother. I switched to reading books in English, especially fantasy, and I discovered American comics as well.
After many years of wandering the world doing odd jobs and volunteering, I finally settled back down in beautiful Portugal. Experimenting with many things to re-awaken that childhood wonder and curiosity, I hope Domestika will play a role in my artistic explorations, a side of me long neglected in a "serious" and pragmatic world.
