Margaret Baxter

Although I am retired now, my background is in tutoring - English and Health Studies. I am also an Artist and Writer having studied Children’s Book Illustration with the London College of Art where I gained a Diploma (with merit.) Over the years I have successfully exhibited my artwork locally and nationally. My art is contemporary, expressionistic and has been described as “ethereal “ and thought-provoking. I have a collection with Saatchi Art and work mainly in acrylic and soft pastel and my subjects cover seascapes and landscapes mainly depicting the Coastlines of the South West of Scotland where I live with my husband.
I hope the course allows me to apply my artwork more freely as I would like to illustrate a couple of children's books (which are in in poetry form) in the future and feel the course would help me to do that.
I have also enroled for the writing course because, at the moment, I have the two children's books written (in poetry form) and one fictional novel aimed at the young teen audience. As my favourite genre is fiction/fantasy, I would hope the writing course would encourage me to have a more structured way of writing. I enjoy writing - something I have done for most of my life.
