Andrea Villanueva

I was born in mexico city in 1989, I satrted my path in art at he age of six. At the age of 20 I enter university to study fine arts, and my pictorial statement became very close to science, microbiology. My artistic style tends to talk about the creation of images from microworlds and secret landscapes, aesthetics unknown to most, of microscopic environments.
By exploring the cellular structure of plants, inspiration comes to create new visual compositions. Reinterpreting these microworlds to perform hybridizations and mutations as an aesthetic end result.
I play a lot with the difference in densities of various liquids to create reactions that simulate an organic image similar to that of the microscopic structure of plants.
staring from these images, I started my company Mitocondria Textiles, in which I print my paintings on silk to make scarves.
