Gaudí: The Centenary of a Visionary who Transformed Modern Architecture. The year 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the death of Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926), one of the world's most visionary architects. His work, deeply linked to nature, spirituality and geometry, transcended the limits of architecture to become a artistic language of its own. A century later, his figure continues to fascinate architects, designers and art lovers. This article reviews his life, explores his creative process, and celebrates the universal influence of a creator who forever transformed modern architecture. The origins of a visionary. Antoni Gaudí was born in Reus in 1852, into a family of artisan coppersmiths. His fragile health led him to spend much time observing nature, a practice that would mark all his work. Natural forms, proportions and rhythms would become his main source of inspiration. He studied architecture in Barcelona and from the beginning developed his own style. Although he mastered classical technique, his gaze sought to unite art, geometry and spirituality, anticipating Catalan modernism.
