Dr. Manuel Mateo is an Architect and Phd (Doctor of Philosophy) in Architecture, graduate with
honors by the Architectural Projects Department of the Higher Technical School of Architecture
in Madrid (ETSAM) Polytechnic University Madrid (UPM).
He has collaborated with several architects with international prestige such as: Carlos Rubio
Carvajal, Carmen Espegel, Ginés Garrido Colmenero, Fernando Porras, Ricardo Lampreave...
and has participated in large scale architecture projects as a part of the engineering firm TYPSA
and the Consultancy Group AGUIRRE&NEWMAN. Currently he runs his own professional firm
MATEO VEGA ARQUITECTOS.
In the academics he has collaborated in several research projects among wich should be
mentioned “Study of Average Physicist and Environmental of the city of Toledo” as Researcher
Fellowship of Juan de Herrera Institute at ETSAM. He was present as Lecturer in the 6th
European Symposium on Research in Architecture and Urbanism, EURAU 12 held in Oporto
(Portugal). He is regularly invited to be contributor of magazines reviewer, lecturer and visiting
critic in academic reviews.
Since 2013 to 2016, he has been Assistant Professor of Architectural Design at ArroyoPemjean Unit Master at ETSAM, UPM. His Doctoral Thesis researched the "Implantation Strategies in the Landscape in the Architecture of Enric Miralles", analyzing in detail three of the works constructed corresponding to the mature stage of Miralles: Igualada Cemetery Park , the Sports Complex Archery in Barcelona and the Sports Pavilion in Huesca.
