Mateo Castaño-Suárez
is a first-generation immigrant settler in Canada from a Spanish-speaking Colombian family. They are a writer and visual artist currently living in Tkaronto. Mateo catalyzes intersectional art through their work with the Spanish Centre, the European Union Institutes of Culture, the National Ballet of Canada, the University of Toronto, and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.
Mateo is a founding member of Collective65, an artist incubator partnered with the University of Toronto, that centers the ancestral wisdom of Latinx seniors through the art of photography.
Their poetry is published by York University’s Glendon College ANTARES Publishing House, and Apple Books. You can find Mateo at studiomto.com
