Hello, I am a an artist from London. I work with a variety of analogue mixed media techniques but predominantly watercolour and inks. You can say that I am traditionalist in the sense that everything I do is freehand. My work is born from my love of Fashion Illustration and the human form, but over the years I have been experimenting with telling a story through creating more interpretative work. I love the idea of using art as a visual language as I feel it has such a powerful ability to be able to tell a story or convey a mood or feeling through the use of colour/composition and simple mark making. I am really interested in producing work for conceptual work often which is accompanied with editorials in subjects that I am interested in such as Nature, Science, Humans and the mind to name a few. I joined this course as I felt it would be a good way for me to explore how I can use my artistic skills in an arena that I am interested and hopefully secure regular work from. I have already watched the tutorials, and they have been amazing, I really love how they are set up and the practical exercises.
For my book, I have chosen the Handmaid's Tale. I studied this text when I studied English Literature many years ago at college and the cover then is so different to the latest version. Yet both, I feel don't really give the reader a clue to what the premise is. So I am taking on the challenge to try and use the knowledge from this course to try and create another version of this book cover. Wish me luck!
