Inês Mota

Inês Mota was born in Porto in 1995. She is a set designer whose interests include puppetry, light design, illustration and animation cinema.

She recently graduated her Master’s degree in scenography from ENSATT, Lyon, France, as a scholarship holder of Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Her final project is entitled "L'immatérialité de la scénographie, entre matière et évocation" (The immateriality of scenography, between matter and suggestion).

Before moving to Lyon in 2019, Inês completed a year's internship in the Department of Props and Sets of ESMAE, Porto, were she had previously concluded her Bachelor’s degree in scenography in 2016. Along her way Inês has also lived in Brescia, Italy, in 2016, where she attended LABA in Eramsus; and in Leeds, UK, in 2017, for an internship with the Red Ladder Theatre Company.

Inês has experience assisting set designers such as Alwyne de Dardel, Marta Silva and Ali Allen. She is fluent in Portuguese, English and French and can communicate and understand Italian and Spanish.

As a designer herself she has collaborated with 14:20, La Jeune Troupe du Théâtre des Îlets II, Claire Boust, Funâmbula_Grupo Criativo, Público Reservado. And had the opportunity of seeing her work in Théâtre Terzieff à l’ENSATT (2022), au Théâtre des Îlets (2022), Sala de Bolso da ASSéDIO Teatro (2018), Teatro Municipal do Porto – Campo Alegre (2018), Teatro Carlos Alberto (2018), Serralves em Festa (2013, 2019), Prague Quadrennial (2015, 2019).
