Hello! When I was a little girl my mother taught me how to embroider and I completed a couple of samplers. I come from a long line of women who did handwork and I have always had an appreciation for the gift. I stopped sewing for many years and in college started needlepointing which I have done off & on in my adult life. Right before the pandemic began I decided I would try to embroider again. I started with a kit which I completed and gave to a friend. I loved doing the needlework but didn’t like the uselessness of the round kit so I decided I would make some more modern embroidered dish towels. I like the idea of having things that are functional and fun. I also did a set of 8 dinner napkins for my mom.
I think embroidery really helped me get through the pandemic. I find it therapeutic. I feel present and relaxed when I am embroidering.
I loved the art and needlework I saw when I studied in Mexico in college. I am excited to learn more from Gimena. I am filled with joy looking at her pieces and look forward to participating in the class.
