I'm Bjarni and for the past two years photography has been one of my main hobbies. I've been interested in photography since I was about 5 or 6 years old when I saw a photo by RAX (Ragnar Axelsson, one of Iceland's top photographers) but I never really got into taking photos my self. I've been a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) coach for almost two decades now and when Covid shut everything down in 2020 I (finally) decided to get into photography and went out for photo-walks since I couldn't train BJJ.
Since as long as I can remember I've liked to observe people in public, hopefully not in a creepy way haha but more like imagining their story and I think that fits perfectly with photography because noticing things is such a big part of it.
Being a coach has taught me that when learning something new you have to repeat the same thing over and over again and never talk your self down for making mistakes. Negative self talk shuts down creative thinking and you need creative thinking to be able to learn from mistakes. That mindset and repetition are two main factors when learning! Since repetition is such a crucial thing when learning I decided to do a 365 photo challenge which I posted to my instagram account.
Currently I'm using Canon EOS R and if I'd have to pick a favorite lens it would be a 85mm prime. If you're interesting in seeing my photos then please check out my Vero and Instagram accounts.
