Joey Gao

I am a Beijing-born freelance illustrator and graphic designer now based in Vancouver. I have been creating digital, print, and multimedia designs since 2013. With a professional education background in engineering, my designs often gravitate towards a format that expresses complex emotions with simple visual logic. Working mostly in digital, some of my favorite motifs include repetition, symmetry, sequencing, and synchronization.

I was initially drawn to Dometika for its vector drawing and animation videos, but it has been enlightening to see how different designers think and craft in their own effective and affecting ways.
